Learn more about what wait time fees are and how they’re calculated.
In this article, we'll cover:
What is a wait time fee?
Wait time fees help keep our platform running smoothly. Wait time fees may be charged at a per minute rate when a driver has arrived at the pickup location and has been waiting for more than >2 minutes (or >5 minutes for Lux Black and Lux Black XL). If a driver arrives early, fees will apply 2 minutes after the original estimated pickup time. Additional wait time charges may apply to a trip depending on how busy it is. Wait time fees vary by location.
What if the ride is canceled?
If the ride is canceled and you’re charged a cancellation fee, you won’t be charged for wait time. Wait time fees do not apply to:
- Concierge rides
- Any Lyft Pass for Healthcare rides
- Lyft Assisted rides
What if I need more time to find my ride?
Riders with a disability who need more time to reach their ride can submit a waiver request for wait time fees. Riders with a valid waiver for disability are exempt from wait time fees and will be refunded for previous wait time fee charges upon request.
