Tips for sending Concierge rides to SFO and LAX airports

LAX and SFO international airports have made significant changes to the pickup locations in recent years for rideshare. Learn more about those changes in this article.

What's changed? 

As of October 29, 2019, the pickup location for Standard, Shared, XL, and Extra Comfort Lyft rides will be located at the new LAX-it lot. Airport riders will be able to walk to this rideshare lot easily from Terminals 1, 2, 7, and 8, or they can take a dedicated LAX-it shuttle that will be running frequently at all terminals. 

Lux Black and Lux Black XL rides are still available for curbside pickups at the Arrivals area. This is already available at SFO and LAX.


How do the LAX and SFO pickup location changes impact Concierge rides?

If you are requesting a Standard, XL, and/or Extra Comfort Lyft ride using Concierge with LAX or SFO as the pickup location, it’s important to keep in mind that your riders will now need extra time to get to the LAX-it lot or SFO rideshare pickup zones to meet their driver. Due to this, we highly recommend sending your rider a flexible ride so that they can call their ride when they reach the rideshare pick-up zone.


How do I choose the new LAX-it lot as the pickup location in Concierge?

You will be able to select the LAX-it lot from the Concierge ride request form when LAX is entered as the pickup location and the ride type you’d like to request is a Standard, XL, and/or Extra Comfort ride. 

  1. Log in to Concierge
  2. Select 'Request'
  3. Enter your rider’s first name, last name, and mobile phone number
  4. Enter LAX in the Pickup address field and select 'LAX airport (LAX) World Way, Los Angeles' from the drop-down menu that appears
  5. Two pickup location fields will become available — the first is to identify which Terminal of LAX the rider should be picked up in or the LAX-it, and the second is to identify the approved pickup area within that terminal or the specific zone of the LAX-it lot
  6. Click on the first pickup location field and select 'LAX-it Pickup Lot'
  7. Click on the second Pickup location field
    • For standard Lyft rides, select 'Zone 30A / 30B'
    • For Lyft XL and/or Lyft Extra Comfort rides, select 'Zone 31A'

  8. Enter the drop-off address
  9. Select Ride details → to move on to the next page of the ride request form
  10. We recommend selecting Flexible from the top menu to send your rider an SMS text with a link they can use to request their ride when they arrive at the LAX-it lot. This will help ensure the driver doesn’t arrive to the LAX-it lot before your rider gets there
  • You can still select 'Now' to request an on-demand ride or schedule a ride for a future date
  • To schedule a ride for a future date, select the pickup date for the scheduled ride in the 'Pickup date' field—this can be up to 30 days in advance. Then select the specific time you'd like the rider to be picked up in the 'Pickup time' field
  • Please allow at least 20 extra minutes for your rider to reach the LAX-it lot

  • Select Lyft, Lyft XL, or Lyft Extra Comfort as the ride type from the drop-down menu
  • To complete the ride request:
    • Flexible: select 'Send ride link' to send your rider an SMS with their flexible ride link
    • Now: select 'Request ride and Concierge' will immediately requested begin to look for a driver 
    • Schedule: select 'Schedule ride' and your rider will receive an SMS letting them know the date and time of their pre-scheduled ride

    I want my rider to be picked up curbside at LAX. What should I do?

    If you would like your rider to be picked up curbside at LAX, you may only select 'Lux Black or Lux Black XL' as the ride type. The ride request process in Concierge remains the same — you’ll need to indicate which terminal your rider should be picked up at and what designated pickup area at curbside they’ll be located at.

    Repeat steps one-three from above and do the following: 

    1. Enter LAX in the Pickup address field and select 'LAX airport (LAX) World Way, Los Angeles' from the drop-down menu that appears
    2. Two Pickup location fields will become available — the first is to identify which Terminal of LAX the rider should be picked up in, and the second is to identify the approved pickup area within that terminal
    3. Click on the first Pickup location field and select the terminal at LAX that your rider will be picked up at
    4. Click on the second Pickup location field and select either 'Arrivals Curb 1E — limited to 'Lux Black, Lux Black XL' or 'Arrivals Curb 1G — limited to Lux Black, Lux Black XL.' This field is highlighted in yellow and you will see a Limited ride types message to alert you that curbside pickup only available for Lux Black, Lux Black XL

    5. Enter the drop-off address
    6. Select 'Ride details →' to move on to the next page of the ride request form
    7. Due to unpredictable flight delays, we still recommend selecting Flexible from the top menu to send your rider an SMS text with a link they can use to request their ride when they arrive at the designated curbside pickup area of their terminal. This will help ensure the driver doesn’t arrive to the pickup area before your rider gets there
    • You can still select 'Now' to request an on-demand ride, or 'Schedule' to pre-schedule a ride for your rider at their scheduled time of landing.
  • Select 'Lux Black, Lux Black XL' as the ride type from the drop-down menu
  • To complete the ride request:
    • Flexible: select 'Send ride link' to send your rider an SMS with their flexible ride link
    • Now: select 'Request ride and Concierge' will immediately requested begin to look for a driver 
    • Schedule: select 'Schedule ride' and your rider will receive an SMS letting them know the date and time of their pre-scheduled ride

    How do I order pick-up rides at LAX or SFO if I am a Concierge API client?

    For Concierge API clients, please be mindful of the zone names and lat-longs for the pick-up area. If they are entered incorrectly, you will receive an error message.

    The pickup and drop-off coordinates for the LAX-it lot are as follows:

    • You can order a standard Lyft at LAX-it Pickup Lot, Zone 5 Curb with a Lat/Long: “33.9467645, -118.3985324.”
    • You can order a Lyft XL or Lyft Lux at LAX-it Pickup Lot, Zone 6C Curb with a Lat/Long: “33.9461836, -118.3983953.”

    For SFO, Lyft Lux Black, Lux Black XL are available at curbside pick-up. For ordering a standard Lyft or Lyft XL, please ensure to include one of the following rideshare pick-up zones:
