After publishing a Lyft Pass program, you’re ready to share Lyft Pass with your riders. There are 5 sharing options available. Click the sharing option you chose during the creation of your Lyft Pass program to see step-by-step instructions on how to share Lyft Pass via your chosen method:
Phone number
Sharing Lyft Pass using your riders’ phone numbers is a great way to share with those who are outside of your organization (i.e. may not have a work or organization email with your organization). Using the rider’s phone number, Lyft Pass will be automatically added to their Lyft account if they already have the Lyft app. If a rider doesn’t have an existing Lyft account, they will need to sign up for one using the phone number you shared Lyft Pass to and the pass will be automatically added to their account upon successful sign up.
Please note that once Lyft Pass is shared via phone number, you will not be able to change the benefit type.
How to share Lyft Pass using phone numbers
- Select Lyft Pass from the left navigation bar in the Lyft Business Portal
- Select the program that you’ll be sharing Lyft Pass via rider phone numbers
- Select + Share passes in top right corner
- On the Add people screen, you can enter your riders’ phone numbers in 2 ways:
- Enter your riders’ phone numbers manually and separated by commas in the Mobile phone numbers box. You must include +1 before every phone number and do not include any spaces or special characters. This method is best if you have a small number of riders to share Lyft Pass with
- Select Import a CSV to upload a CSV file with your riders’ phone numbers listed in the first column with no headers. You must include +1 before every phone number and do not include any spaces or special characters. This method is best if you have a large number of riders to share Lyft Pass with
- Select Send invite once you’ve added all rider phone numbers to share with
- You’ll see a Success banner pop up letting you know Lyft Pass was shared successfully

General shareable codes and links
*Only available for one-time ride pass programs
A general shareable code is a single code or link that can be used by any rider that has it. It’s an easy way to share Lyft Pass if you don’t have the rider’s information or they are outside of your organization. Please note this option does contain risk of exposure due to anyone’s ability to use the code that gains access to it.
How to share Lyft Pass using a general code or link
- Select Lyft Pass from the left navigation bar in the Lyft Business Portal
- Select the program that you’ll be sharing Lyft Pass via a general code
- Select + Share passes in top right corner
- Select Copy code if you’d like to share the alphanumeric code with a rider who will manually type the code in their Lyft app to apply it, or select Copy link to share a link with a rider that when clicked automatically opens up their Lyft app and applies the code for Lyft credit
- Give the code or link directly to the rider
Unique shareable codes and links
With unique shareable codes and links, a list of unique codes is generated and each code can only be claimed by one rider. You chose the number of codes to be generated when you created your Lyft Pass program.
Please note that once Lyft Pass is shared via unique codes or links, you will not be able to edit any part of the program except for the program name and description.
How to share Lyft Pass using a unique code or link
- Select Lyft Pass from the left navigation bar in the Lyft Business Portal
- Select the program that you’ll be sharing Lyft Pass via unique codes
- Select + Share passes in top right corner
- A list of unique codes with a unique link to match that code will be generated to be downloaded as a CSV file. Click Download codes
- Give the code or link directly to the rider. Remember that only one code and/or its matching link can be used by one rider, so we recommend adding a column in the CSV file to track which codes and links have already been shared
QR Codes
QR codes enable Lyft Pass admins to distribute program benefits via a printed QR code. Admins can download PDF with the QR code generated once Lyft Pass program is created. Follow these steps to start using QR codes for your organization:
-
- Go to the Lyft Business Portal
- View your ride program
- Right click the three vertical dots and click Edit
- Under Basics, go to Sharing options and click Show options for links and codes
- Click General code, link, and QR code
- Click Publish to save changes
- View your ride program and you will see the QR code under Sharing options
- Click Share passes then click Download QR code
- Now, you have a pdf of the QR code that you can print and display
To redeem these credits, your employees just need to scan QR code from their standard camera app. Then the credits can be added to your employee’s Lyft app account.
Please be aware that riders can still pass the QR code image around. Similarly to general shareable codes, this option does contain risk of exposure due to anyone’s ability to use the QR code that gains access to it.
